What should I bring to class?

Bring lunch, hard hat, and safety vest.

Will there be lunch breaks?

There is a ½ hour lunch break. As fast food restaurants, etc. are too far away for the scheduled lunch break it is suggested that you bring a lunch.

When are classes held?

Most classes begin at 8:00 am and are completed by 4:00 pm, although some out-state classes (Virginia, Duluth, and Grand Rapids) start at 7 am. The 10-hour OSHA class is completed over a 2 day period. OSHA 30-hour class is completed over a 4 day span. The PRO 10 class is another 10 hour class offered through the Training Center and no matter where this class offered, the class starts at 7:00 am and goes to 5:30 PM. The Pipelayer Certification class is a 4 hour class and runs from 8:00 am until noon.

How do I apply for CCO certification?

If applying for CCO Certification – please contact Judy at 320-384-7093.

How much does apprenticeship and other training cost?

It doesn’t. No tuition, no student loan debt when you’re done. Your time spent at our Training Center is part of being a member of Local 49. You’ll be trained by veteran industry professionals for the specific, practical skills needed for the work you’ll be doing.

Apprenticeship through Operating Engineers Local 49 allows you to begin earning right away, with health care coverage and other benefits. It’s the best deal out there, while you join the ranks of elite heavy equipment operators sought after by contractors, and we believe you should earn while you learn.

Who can I contact with other questions?

If you have questions on Apprenticeship you should contact Susie Fore or Brian Aske. General questions should be directed to our receptionist by calling: (320) 384-7093.
